Brazilian Cherry head Red Foot Tortoise

The Brazilian Cherry head Red Foot Tortoise is a  slow-moving creature that loves to bask in the sun, this exotic tortoise is a popular pet choice. They’re homebodies and will spend most of their time in a single enclosure, eating and sleeping. They also love to dig – so a deep substrate like coconut fiber or fine gravel is necessary for proper hydration. They live along rivers and near the edge of forests. As their name suggests, they feature bright patches of either red or orange on their legs and head, and their shell color varies from a light to dark brownish color. They’re fairly easy to care for as pets, though they are a long-term commitment. Brazilian Cherry Head Red Foot Tortoises are a very pretty, slightly smaller version of the classic Red Footed Tortoise. Their head and leg scales are often bright red or orange and some are born with lighter shells. Size: Generally reaches 11 to 14 inches in length. Considered a medium sized tortoise, the cherry head tortoise reaches sizes of up to 15″. Most cherry head will grow to around 12-14″. There are also giant amazon basin cherry head subspecies that reach over 16″. This is the same for the yellow footed tortoise.
