Burmese Brown Mountain Tortoise Female

Burmese Brown Mountain Tortoise is the most common tortoise in captivity. They are relatively easy to care for and are suited for almost any environment. A very hardy species, they can handle a wide range of temperatures, although you should never let them get too cold or too hot. Burmese Brown Mountain Tortoise have an interesting and distinctive personality, but they should always be housed without other tortoises.  Its shell is dark brown, with black speckles on the scutes and yellow lines on the sides. This species lives high in the mountains. They can be found at elevations between 2,400 and 4,000 meters (about 8,000 to 13,000 feet). The tortoises have little natural predators in their arid habitat except for leopards and humans. The tortoises are very territorial creatures and tend to live inside their burrows during the day, coming out only at night.
